Explore our Lessons

We have been homeschooling for a few years now and have done a few natural studies. This one is one of the best. We particularly loved the real life pictures and videos. While watercolor is lovely, having real life photography helps, seeing all the details and beauty of the dragonflies. The length of lessons is manageable and keeps kids engaged. Student pages are simple but giving them something to do.

MEET HEATHER + KAIT!

Kait and Heather share a deep love (okay…nerdy obsession) for nature and a strong desire to help kids grow in their knowledge of God—all while exploring His amazing creation. Kait has been homeschooling her three daughters for over nine years, and Heather has been on the journey with her two boys for over six.

Abiding Wild began as a small nature co-op in Southern Oregon. As we led our group, we saw a real need for open-and-go, Christian-based nature study programs. So in the spring of 2023, we started writing fun, engaging, and fully-scripted science lessons for our own co-op. Every lesson has been tested (often 2-3x) with our group—so we know they’re not just informative, but actually really fun too!

ABOUT US

Untitled design (3).png

At Abiding Wild our heart is to worship God by exploring and delighting in the wonder of His creation. Through the beauty and complexity woven into every detail of His design, we aim to spark awe and curiosity in the hearts of our children. Our seasonal nature-inspired open-and-go unit lessons and activities are Charlotte Mason inspired, and include a fully-scripted science lesson full of beautiful images, Scripture memory verse, poetry, read-aloud books, videos to watch together, handwriting pages, nature journal prompts, creative writing prompts, STEAM and art projects, life cycle and anatomy pages, and more! We have a Family Membership option, where families can take part in twice monthly live streamed (or recorded) lessons taught by Ms. Kait!

We also have a Co-Op Leader membership, which includes support as you start a group, as well as ongoing support, and weekly Abiding Wild curriculum! The curriculum is fully scripted for you, easy to use, and includes a craft project, "truth talk" devotional that ties in a Scripture lesson each week, and a group game.

Over the course of the 2025-26 School year, we will release a rich variety of science topics—mammals, insects, birds, earth science, plants, reptiles, amphibians, fish, weather, space, and even dinosaurs—all through a lens that honors our Creator. (Check out our Statement of Faith) We also include special holiday lessons at various times of the year.

Statement of Faith
OUR CORE BELIEFS: STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our curriculum is written from a non-denominational orthodox Christian perspective. We are unapologetically Jesus-loving people. We urge you to always measure everything to God’s Word as the ultimate source of truth and authority.

THE BIBLE:
We believe the Bible to be 100% true in all areas, fully inspired by God, made up of 66 books between the Old and New Testament.

GOD:
We believe in one God who is the Creator of all things, and has always existed. We believe in the Trinity, that God is three distinct persons and all are equally God, including God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, infinite, eternal, sovereign, holy, unchanging, just , righteous, loving, true, and always good.

JESUS:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God, part of the trinity of God/God incarnate, Savior of the world, who was born of the virgin (Mary) of the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and was raised to life on the third day. We believe He has always existed from the beginning. We believe He will return again to righteously judge this world.

HOLY SPIRIT:
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers in Jesus, which is a promise given to us of our salvation. We believe that the Holy Spirit is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide to us. He also provides spiritual gifting to each believer, for the benefit of the body of Christ.

SALVATION:
We believe that salvation only occurs through faith in Jesus Christ, that this is a gift from God, that we do not deserve on our own merit, and cannot do anything to earn - it’s only through faith. We believe that all believers who have genuinely received Christ as their Savior are sealed with the Holy Spirit and are eternally secure in Christ.

AGE OF THE EARTH:
At Abiding Wild, we believe without a shadow of a doubt that God created ALL things. Humans were specifically created in His image (Gen 1:26), and He has put all things under our dominion (Gen 1:28). When it comes to timelines of the earth, we recognize that the only One who can truly know the timelines of the earth is the Creator Himself. As debates rage amongst Old Earth and Young Earth Creationists, we have decided to leave dates out of our lessons so parents can present theories to their kids at their own discretion. We may include books and video links that reference old earth theory, but find the information or footage in these valuable enough to include as we discuss the earth’s guesstimated age with our kids. That said, one theme we harp on is that scientists never agree and there is always new information coming to light! We believe the WHO of Creation, and leave the how up to discussion.
